Hi Everyone! I hope your Saturday is going well! Today's recipe will be pizza.

Every Thursday we have this. The boys love it and hubby and I get into the kitchen together to make it. I love that!! This tradition started out last November when we didn't hand in Ryan's order form for pizza day. We decided instead of having him do without, we'd make our own. After a couple weeks of doing this, Ryan decided he didn't want the pizza from school anymore.

This pizza is better than frozen and much tastier than takeout because you add your own ingredients. By adding small pieces of spinach to the sauce and on the pizza, it becomes very good for you and it adds texture but very little taste.

Thick Crust Pizza

1 bag store-bought pizza dough or homemade
flour

Sauce

store-bought
pizza sauce
spinach
oregano
worchestershire sauce
hot sauce
parmesan cheese
finely chopped onion
fresh cracked black pepper

Topping Suggestions

We use:
drained stems and pieces mushrooms
pepperoni

grated mozzarella cheese
green olives
spinach
any other toppings you may enjoy, (we've stayed away from bacon and sausage because it makes the pizza greasy)

Set pizza dough out to warm up to room temperature. Spread wax paper or plastic placemats out for spreading the dough. Sprinkle a little flour down and spread dough from center outwards, adding flour as required. Transfer to pizza pan forming dough out to the edges. Preheat oven to 325 degrees.

Spread mixed pizza sauce on dough then add a small amount of mozzarella cheese as "glue". Top with a layer of pepperoni, sprinkle of olives, mushrooms, spinach then mozzarella. Bake for 30 minutes. Remove to cooling rack and let sit for 20 minutes or until cooled enough to eat.

We serve with chicken wings that I marinate in Italian salad dressing and deepfry for about 15 minutes a batch.
