Hi Everyone! Welcome to the first Sunday in April...I've already had my April Fool joke this morning by Google...I went to log into my email account and started reading about a new feature they were coming out with where you can select as many messages as you want and Google will send you paper copies of the messages in the mail, I thought GREAT! I have over 100,000 recipes in my account this could be handy!! Guess what, it was a joke, I was kind of disappointed, this was a service I could REALLY use! LOL!!
I've been doing this newsletter now for 4 months. I'd like to thank everyone who have made comments about the newsletter and suggestions for improvement. I'd love to hear what you think of the recipes so far.
Today's recipe is similar to lasagna because it is layered noodles and meat with cheese but the ingredients are items that you probably already have in your house. If you don't have the box of macaroni and cheese, use regular macaroni or little shells and add more cheese, also if you would like to add any seasonings that your family enjoys, feel free to experiment.
Clean-out-the-pantry Dinner
1 (14 oz.) box macaroni and cheese
1 pound ground beef
1 bottle or can pasta sauce
1 cup grated Cheddar cheese
1 cup grated mozzarella cheese
Cook macaroni and cheese according to package directions. Brown ground beef, adding pepper to taste. Drain fat from pan then combine with pasta sauce and heat until hot. While ingredients are still hot, layer half the macaroni and cheese and ground beef mixture in a 9x13x2-inch baking dish. Repeat layers. Top with grated cheese. Place in a 350 degree oven until cheese has melted. Cut in squares to serve for a tasty and hearty main dish. Serves 8-10.
